French Embassy in Prague – Drying out the walls of the Buquoy Palace

In November 2022, an I.P.E® 62 device was installed in the premises of the French Embassy in the Czech Republic, located in the prestigious Buquoy Palace in Prague.

This palace, a jewel of French heritage abroad and the Embassy’s headquarters since 1919, comprises a group of buildings, some of which date back to the 17th century. Built near Charles Bridge, on the left bank of the Vltava River, these buildings are distinguished by their massive walls and the diversity of their materials, which makes them particularly susceptible to rising damp.

Intervention and results

The I.P.E® 62 device was installed without any major work, directly on a very thick and damp stable wall, in which there was an old drinking trough.

  • After 7 months of use, the initial results were already remarkable and satisfactory.
  • After 1 year and 3 months, the findings were confirmed: the treated wall is dry and its coating is perfectly intact.

A sustainable solution for heritage preservation

The experience at the Palais Buquoy confirms the effectiveness of I.P.E® technology in complex historical environments where humidity threatens long-term conservation.

The device installed at the French Embassy has been so successful that its use could be extended to other buildings on the site.
